RFI for Montserrat’s Solar Power Project Published

This week, Government of Montserrat/Montserrat Utilities Limited via the Ministry of Communication, Works and Labour, published an Engineer Procurement Construction (EPC) – Request for Information (RFI) for a 1 MW Utility-Scale Solar PV and Battery Storage project.

The project will be implemented in two phases consisting of a phase 1, 250 KW and Phase 2, 750 KW and Storage, representing 11% and 43% respectively of peak load.

According to Project Lead Owen Lewis, the investment recommended by the Montserrat PV Integrated Study 2015 (GIZ REETA-CARICOM / Siemens) signals Montserrat transition to 100% electricity generation by 2020, which is a key target of the Montserrat Energy Policy 2016 – 2030.

solarThe information developed through the RFI will be used to evaluate the market interest for EPC services for Montserrat.

The Rocky Mountain Institute-Carbon War Room / Clinton Climate Initiative (RMI-CWR / CCI) through the Ten Island Challenge provided technical support to Government of Montserrat in the preparation of this RFI as part of its Island Energy Program.
