If you’ve always wanted to know what all the fuss about blogging is about or how so many people are creating new streams of income from their ideas, then this FREE workshop organised by the Montserrat Public Library is for you.
In collaboration with author and media strategist Nerissa Golden, the library is hosting a four-day workshop from Tuesday July 24 to Friday July 27 to encourage more people to share their thoughts using the written word.
“The library aims to continue to be a valuable resource to the community and we believe that learning how to turn your opinions and personal interests into content that other people can learn from is one of the ways we can do this. We are pleased to partner with Nerissa for another unique workshop,” said Librarian Sonja Smith.
“My first two books came out of years of blogging. So whether you aspire to be an author but don’t know where to start or you have a unique business or a professional service which can benefit from more visibility then blogging is one way that you can do this,” explained Golden who has been a blogger for almost 20 years.
By the end of the workshop, the instructor says that participants will have set up their own blog, written a few pieces and received tips on how to promote and eventually monetise the blog.
“As with any business, you have got to be consistent and visible. Although millions of people now have blogs there are some key ways to stand out and I will be sharing these with the participants. Being a good writer is not a prequisite for the class. You only get good at writing by writing,” she shared.
Classes will be held from 5 to 7:30PM at the library at the BBC Complex in Brades. To reserve a place contact the Montserrat Public Library at 491-4706 or email smiths@gov.ms.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their own laptop or device which can connect to the internet.
