Montserrat Celebrates Girls in ICT Day

For the fourth year, Montserrat will join nations around the world commemorating Girls in ICT Day on Thursday, April 23, 2015.

The Honourable Minister of Communications Paul Lewis is to make a radio address on the national radio station ZJB Radio Montserrat about the vision of his ministry and highlighting the work of the National ICT Council.

The council which was formed in 2012 and has been actively engaged in implementing the National ICT Strategy which provides key areas in which government agencies can take the lead in creating an ICT-enabled environment for growth.

Members of the council are scheduled to host and ICT hour at the Brades Arts & Education Centre for Nursery School students.

Meanwhile girls from the local primary schools continue to work on their projects called Volcano Stories, which teaches them how to capture the experiences of residents who lived through the volcanic eruptions that began in 1995. The videos will be aired on local television around July 1995, as part of the island’s 20-year commemoration of the events.

ICT tips recorded from students of the Lookout Primary School can be heard starting today on ZJB Radio Montserrat.
