Less Crimes and Calls to Police in 2016

60 less crimes were recorded in 2016 than in 2015 says the Royal Montserrat Police Service.

During a press conference on Friday, January 20, Commissioner Steve Foster shared that in 2016 there were 252 crimes recorded versus 312 in 2015 and 257 in 2014. The 2016 stats showed a downward trend of 19% from 2015.

The commissioner also noted that calls dropped from 1667 in 2015 to 1544 in 2016. Majority of the calls were about disturbance and noise pollution, followed by threats.

The senior officer noted that the number of traffic accidents increased in 2016 and that rear end collisions and single-person accidents were the highest. Read traffic stats here….
