Crowdfunding Campaign to Rebuild The People’s Place

Support the fund raising campaign to rebuild The People’s Place

A campaign to raise US$10,000 to rebuild The People’s Place has been launched.

The People’s Place and its owner John Fergus are iconic figures on Montserrat. A visit to the island is not complete without a stop for a drink or to take in the incredible from this hilltop location in St. Peters.

The bar was critically damaged by Hurricane Maria and it’s location right in the heart of the island is a reminder that Montserrat did not escape unscathed.

The crowdfunding campaign is on the YouCaring platform and was organised by David Lea and family. Lea runs the Hilltop Coffee House next door to Fergus’ place.

John was quite emotional when he discovered the business he has run and only recently expanded had lost its roof and the northern side of the building. However, he is not one to mourn and has gotten right back to work. You can find him serving up barbecue and cold drinks nearby.
