GoFundMe Campaign for Cepeke’s Medical Bills

A gofundme page has been set up to raise $50,000 to pay for the medical expenses of Cepeke, a multi-talented musician who was hospitalised in early January. He has been diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder, which sometimes affects patients who have contracted the Zika virus.

His daughter Viona Alexander-Smith,  said on Facebook Wednesday that they were thankful to “each and everyone for their continuous prayers, words of encouragement and for simply being there. The prayers are working; he is improving and will continue to improve until he returns to his normal state.”

In recent months, the community of Montserrat at home and abroad have been using crowdfunding campaigns to support needs such as this, education and hurricane relief.

If ever there was a cause for Stratians to rally around, this is it. It highlights so many things: the contributions of patriots, the role & responsibility of the diaspora, and, most importantly, the current debate surrounding the unanimous demand for the British government to cease dilly-dallying, step up to the plate and build a hospital with medical facilities adequate for human health and dignity today, not 17th century.
