Arrow tribute show in London Dec. 4th

International Soca Artist Scrappy will be one of the headliners of the first Arrow Tribute Show in London.

BRADES, Montserrat – Montserratians around the UK are coming together in Dalston to celebrate the legacy of Arrow, the Soca King of the World, in early December.

Former calypso king ‘Kenzie’, International Soca artist ‘Scrappy’, the Alliouagana Community Singers, Steel Pan Man ‘Maka Juda’, a masquerade group and a stellar lineup of Caribbean DJS are part of the ensemble for the December 4th event which runs from 9pm to 5am. The first half of the event will be culturally rich performances, while the second half is a Soca jam session dedicated to the music of Arrow.

According to one of the organizers Dwayne Cassell, they have received the permission of the Arrow Estate to host the event.  Arrow’s music, T-shirts and the official funeral programme, which is a collector’s item, will be available. The Arrow Estate has selected the Montserrat Glendon Hospital to be the recipient of proceeds from the tribute show.

Alphonsus “Arrow” Cassell MBE passed away September 15 on Montserrat at the age of 60 after battling cerebral cancer. Over 2000 residents, regional and international political and entertainment figures attended the funeral on October 1 at the Montserrat Cultural Centre.

Dwayne’s cousin Sean Cassell, also Arrow’s nephew came up with the idea after returning from the funeral. “So many more would have loved to be at the funeral but couldn’t and the Arrow Tribute Show will give them the opportunity to celebrate his legacy and bring closure,” he explained.

“Fyah Stone”, a 100% Montserrat nationals’ band will back up the performers throughout the evening, which will be hosted by Jeevan Robinson, Editor in Chief of mnialive.com. DJ Tyrone, London’s Number One Soca DJ, Chronic X of Conscious FM and Lavalynx Sound of Birmingham will also be pumping out Arrow’s hits for the all night jam.

Entrance is only 10 pounds for the show which will be held at 3 Richmond Road, Dalston E8 3HY.
