No Ferry …So What?

I believe the majority of residents on Montserrat and those who follow local happenings from abroad will agree that all is not well on island. We can even point out the events which have led to our small economy becoming even smaller.

We’re waiting with bated breath for the first schedule for a resumed ferry service. Many are doubtful it will happen this year and we’re unsure of what will happen in December for Festival.

Those few lines don’t sound very hopeful and they surely feel powerless to me.

Is that how you want to feel every day when you wake up? Hopeless and powerless? Pointing fingers at others who are the cause of your pain and troubles? Feeling as if you are out of options?

If we don’t get a ferry in November or anytime soon, do you plan to keep blaming your lack of business on no ferry, on the government? If we do get a ferry what are your plans to make use of this service? Have you quantified what the loss of the ferry has been for your business? How much more can you make once the service is resumed? Are there alternative services you can provide without ferry access? One way or the other you need to know the numbers and have a strategy for what is to come. The decision to grow your business and prepare for any eventuality is yours to make. Not the government’s. Not the bank. It is yours.
