RMPS Celebrates 50 Years

The Royal Montserrat Police Service (RMPS) is celebrating it’s 50th year this month.

Commissioner Steve Foster, who has been in the service for 33 years, said the department was originally formed as part of the Leeward Islands Police Force. The multi-island force began in 1967 and included Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, the Britsh Virgin Islands and Dominica. Dominica first established a police force in 1949.

For the local celebrations, the RMPS will be hosting a nine days of activities from February 24 to March 4, 2017. Activities include a thanksgiving service, a gospel concert, dinner and awards, and radio discussions.
