Julius Morris Breaks Own Record at 2018 Outdoor Track Meet

It’s still track season in the USA even while locally our sports meets are over. Sprinter Julius Morris who is a senior at Western Kentucky University broke the meet record for the 100-meter dash on Saturday, one year after he set it.

Morris and his teammates from WKU Track and Field spent the weekend at the Wendel D. Ley Track in Houston, Texas for the 2018 Conference USA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Morris broke the meet record, previously set by himself in 2017, for the men’s 100-meter dash. He ran 10.12 in the 100-meter prelim on Saturday, making a new person record and national record for Montserrat. In Sunday night’s final, Morris ran 10.35 earning him a second-place finish behind McKinley West of Southern Miss.

Morris also led the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.52 heading into Sundays finals.

He did not disappoint in the finals with a 20.32 finish in first place. His best time and the conference record of 10.21 was set last year at the same competition.

Morris was part of the team which represented Montserrat at the Commonwealth Games last month in Australia.
