Miss Montserrat Delegates Revealed at Sashing Ceremony

The 2019 delegates with the reigning Miss Montserrat Vanice Tuitt.

The Montserrat Arts Council and the Queen Show Committee hosted a sashing ceremony for Miss Montserrat 2019 on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Tropical Mansion Suites.

This event was held to present the five intelligent, beautiful and talented contestants to prospective corporate sponsors and provide those in attendance with information on the pageant and the 2019 Montserrat Carnival season.

The five contestants competing for the title of Miss Montserrat 2019 are:

• Contestant Number 1: Stevika Rodney
• Contestant Number 2: Jo-Diaz Tye
• Contestant Number 3: Francis Destouche
• Contestant Number 4: Janet Turner
• Contestant Number 5: Wejahna Weekes

Among the highlights of the evening were the sashing of the contestants by the reigning Miss Montserrat, Miss Vanice Tuitt, a speech by the Governor of Montserrat, Hon. Andrew Pearce, a speech by the chairperson of the Queen Show Committee, Miss Audris Jno-Baptiste and a speech by the Director of Mac, Mr. Kenneth Silcott. Other highlights included performances by Genesis Steel Pan, Charliena White and Ben Durand.

The MAC and the Queen Show Committee are still in the process of finalizing the corporate sponsors for each contestant, so their names will be revealed to the public at a later date. Nevertheless, the MAC and the Queen Show Committee would like to thank the corporate sponsors who have already agreed to invest in the development of the contestants and hosting a successful Miss Montserrat 2019.

The next Miss Montserrat 2019 event is the Swimwear Competition, which is slated to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Montserrat Cultural Centre from 8-10p.m. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased from the MAC, members of the Queen Show Committee, the contestants and other locations to be announced. The final and main event, Miss Montserrat 2019 will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Carnival Village from 8-11pm.
